Achieving is Believing
The American Dream. When I hear those three words, or read them for that matter, I instantly feel gratification, and I feel inspired. As others listen, they think “long work days”, “spending and needing a lot of money”, “It’s just an illusion” and “That’s frivolous”. I feel as if my view of the American Dream is far more different than supplementary people. The American Dream is not just a dream, if you perspire and if you are predisposed to it, it can be yours. Many expect things to fall into their laps and have everything they need. The American Dream is not a bad thing to aspire to. It gives hope and encourages us to want to do good in our lives while we have the time to do so. Some have the wrong idea, and believe that working towards your dream is just a struggle and that it is unattainable. All you need is the right set of mind, inspiration, and the willingness to put effort into achieving. My American Dream starts with inspiration, continues with sacrifice and effort, and ends with happiness and stability. I have completely accepted the fact that my dream will only be followed through if I work and continue to sacrifice and put time and effort into my aspirations. I haven’t heard of one person who has reached a goal, or followed through on a dream without believing in it and working for it. Life is hard and along the way there are speed bumps, roadblocks, potholes and even u-turns. That is the reality of pursuing your dreams. You can’t lose sight of reality, and expect the ride to be smooth and paved perfectly to your desire. Working hard and believing in your reveries can lead you to the light at the end of an extremely long and tiring tunnel. You can’t have road rage and give up on yourself, you have to suck it up and push through and avoid bad drivers. It doesn't matter what your American Dream is, you will always have to work for it, you are never just along for the ride. You have to be willing to make turns, and come to a decision as you reach an intersection whether to continue or change your mind, at your expense. The thing that people lack the most while trying to achieve their American Dream is patience. In order to succeed in anything you need to have patience. Patience is something that most of our society lacks today. We don’t want to wait in line to buy food, or even sit in a doctors office to wait for an appointment. We’d rather get in and out, get things done and over with or not do them at all. Having patience is key, understanding that things take time to develop and evolve will cause you to exceed your own expectations. Patience and effort go hand in hand. You can’t sit around and expecting things to just happen. Putting effort into things you want to happen is the only way they will be successful. Society is like a car that runs a red light. The car won’t stop for the yellow light because it’s impatient and doesn’t want to wait. Instead of taking it’s time they speed through and put themselves in danger. This can cause the car to get in an accident, or lose sight of what is really happening and ruining it’s dream of reaching it’s destination. Patience and effort will lead you to YOUR destination. So, basically in order to achieve your dream, you need to put the desirable amount of effort and patience into it. Realizing that it will be a journey and won’t be entirely easy, is one of the most important steps of beginning your journey. You may come up to construction and have to take a detour and it may take longer than you expected, but if you have patience and the right set of mind, you can get through it and enjoy it on the way. If you believe in yourself and what you are trying to do, anything can happen. Achieving is believing, and anything is possible with you as the driver.
This piece of writing correlates with my Analysis of Gatsby which is the next genre on this website. Unlike the Analysis of Gatsby, this piece of writing is about how you should act to achieve your dream, and it doesn't relate back to Gatsby. This piece of writing, Achieving is Believing, talks about how you can reach your dream, and how to carry yourself in order to do so. We have to have patience and effort in order to achieve our dreams, and the right set of mind as well, so we don't lose sight of reality and have false hope for the future.
